In 1914, Cartier commissioned a watercolor painting by George Barbier of an elegant woman with a panther. Cartier also designed a greeting card that featured the panther motif. The company also released a watch that resembled a spotted coat of the panther.

A few years later, Cartier’s first panther brooch was created. It featured yellow gold panther with a 116-carat cabochon-cut emerald.

The panther motif was expanded to a ring, a necklace, and a bracelet. The Panthere de Cartier jewelry collection also features diamond fur and onyx spots. Some of the more famous celebrities have worn Cartier Panthere de Cartier jewelry. These include Princess Nina Aga Khan, who purchased the largest suite of panther jewelry from Cartier.

Tutti Frutti collection

Originally created in the late 1800s, the Cartier Panthere de Cartier Necklace Diamond Emerald and Onyx Panther collection was the result of a collaboration between French fashion designer Jeanne Toussaint and Louis Cartier. In the early 1900s, Toussaint developed the Cartier panther into an emblem of the Maison. She spotted the cat on a safari with Louis Cartier, and developed pieces that would soon become iconic.

When she was working for Cartier, Jeanne Toussaint often wore a full-length panther coat. Louis Cartier called her “La Panthere,” which translates to “the Panther.”

She worked for Cartier’s haute joaillerie department. She was a fashion designer and earned the nickname “La Panthere” from Cartier.

During the late 1920s, Toussaint developed a new style of multi-gem jewels that would soon become known as “Tutti Frutti.” Cartier would import a huge quantity of carved gem leaves from India, and used them in this new style. These carved gems were considered ‘foliage’ in the archives.

Cartier’s tutti frutti jewelry collection remains highly sought after. Each piece is crafted with gemstones, black enamel, and onyx. The jewels are mounted on platinum. The three-dimensional design produces striking pieces.

During the Art Deco period, Cartier created a tutti frutti bracelet that is one of the most important examples of this style. This bracelet was sold at auction for $1,887,232 at Christie’s in June 2011. It was also the most expensive Cartier bracelet ever sold at auction. The bracelet once belonged to Wallis Simpson.

In the late 1950s, Toussaint revived the tutti frutti style, creating pieces that were reminiscent of Indian Mughal jewellery. She also collaborated with fashion designer Peter Lemarchand.

The Panthere de Cartier collection is available in white and yellow gold. Each piece is set with emeralds, diamonds, and sapphires. These gems have been engraved onto the surface, creating a unique collection.

Cartier also produces high jewelry pieces, such as a watch. This piece features a panther head on the face of the watch, which opens to reveal a ring of emerald eyes. It also has a cocktoo perched on the diamond-webbed cuff. It is covered with more than 3,000 diamonds. It is also plated with rhodium.
