Cartier’s Tutti Frutti collection

The Tutti Frutti collection is the result of a collaboration between jewelry designer Jean-Louis Cartier and a singer named Daisy Fellowes. Fellowes commissioned the creation of a colossal necklace with bib-like links and colorful gemstones. Fellowes was a trendsetter, and the necklace helped make the brand and design famous. Famous customers of the brand include Linda Porter and Marjorie Merriweather Post.

The Cartier Tutti Frutti collection is considered the “holy grail” of jewelry. Featuring vibrant colored gemstones, carved diamonds, and black enamel, Tutti Frutti pieces illustrate the marriage of Western and Eastern influences. Some examples of Tutti Frutti pieces have sold for more than $1 million! This is a testament to the increasing confidence among collectors to purchase expensive pieces online.

Cartier has continued to evolve and reinvent its jewelry over the years. The Tutti Frutti collection is most popular in bracelets. It features colorful gemstones in Moghul cuts. It also incorporates the panthere motif into its designs. In addition to bracelets, the Tutti Frutti collection also offers stunning rings, necklaces, and earrings.

The Tutti Frutti collection was inspired by Jacques Cartier’s 1911 visit to India. He was fascinated with the vibrant colour of the gemstones and carved cabochons found in the region. In France, he further refined the design of his Tutti Frutti collection. His main aim with these jewels was to bring out the vibrant colours of each stone. The Tutti Frutti collection was less expensive than other collections by Cartier.

The Tutti Frutti collection influenced a number of other jewellers. Paul Flato, a master of Art Deco jewellery, was also inspired by the Tutti Frutti designs. His flamboyant pieces featured brightly coloured carved gemstones and abstract shapes. Flato preferred to call these designs wiggly jewels.

The Tutti Frutti collection from Cartier has had a long and successful history at Sotheby’s. In 1991, Daisy Fellowes’ Collier Hindou bracelet sold for $2.7 million, setting the record for a Cartier Tutti Frutti jewel. In December 2014, Evelyn H. Lauder sold a Tutti Frutti bracelet for $2.2 million, which remains the auction record for any Cartier Tutti Frutti item.

Love bracelet

This elegant and classy bracelet is crafted from 18K yellow gold and black lacquer. It features 347 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 0.93 carats, as well as emeralds and onyx. It weighs 24 grams. Its price is $24,400.

This beautiful, feminine love bracelet is made of 18K white gold and onyx. It has a cat icon and a lion. A heart is set in the center of the lion, and two emeralds flank the other stones. Approximately 225 round brilliant-cut diamonds adorn the rest of the bracelet. The width and thickness of this bracelet are 8.33 mm and 4.7 mm, respectively. However, this size is approximate, and may vary slightly depending on your wrist size.

Tank watch

The Panthere de Cartier is one of the most iconic animals of the Maison. Its image is one of defiance, power and freedom. The 18K white gold, onyx ring has 264 brilliant-cut diamonds. It measures 8 mm in width.

The Tank watch was inspired by the military tanks that were popular during World War I. It features a glass dial on which the hands appear to float and a hidden structure inside the base. This watch is priced at approximately $16,586.

Mystery clocks

Cartier mystery clocks are a unique way to show the time. They are crafted with a central element that is usually made of rock crystal. A sawtooth-edged border is driven into the crystal discs to give them the illusion of floating in the air. This is a fascinating technique that makes the clock appear to move without any visible locomotion.

A Cartier mystery clock is an exquisite example of an exceptional technical achievement. The clock is set within a beautiful frame, usually enameled. Some are mounted on small platforms while others hang like a Chinese gong. Some of these timepieces have a distinctive design and combine elements of Chinese culture with Western design.

The materials used for making a mystery clock are extremely precious. The stone must be transparent and light in weight. The firm must obtain a perfect gemstone every eight months. While this is no easy task, it does not mean that it is impossible. The main challenge is in cutting the gemstone perfectly. While the general shape is easily acquired by a skilled lapidary, the cut is an art that requires a skilled specialist.

The mystery clock is known for its extraordinary beauty, technical virtuosity, and the use of precious materials. While these timepieces were designed as stock items, they were rarely kept for very long. One of the few examples that stayed in the stock book was a Shinto shrine gate clock, which was placed in the stock book on January 29, 1923. It was later sold to opera singer Ganna Walska and a man named Harold McCormick. Then it was acquired by Cartier.

The Cartier Mysterious Double Tourbillon is another model in the Cartier Fine Watchmaking collection. It is an impressive model that echoes the iconic Mysterious Clocks of the twenties. The dial features a big negative space and an upper bridgeless tourbillon. A jade cabochon is set on the winding crown and complemented by a white gold alligator strap.

Cartier created a series of pieces during the 1930s. The designs highlighted a dramatic moment in British history. The situation with Edward Prince of Wales prefigured the drama of Prince Charles and Diana in today’s world. Although the Prince of Wales had succeeded George V in 1936, he had not yet been crowned in a formal ceremony.
