Alhambra necklace
If you’ve been keeping up with the news recently, you’ve probably heard about the resurgence of the Alhambra jewelry line. This collection of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets is being reimagined and reinvented as an enduring contemporary classic.
Originally designed in the 1920s, the Alhambra collection is a staple of Van Cleef & Arpels, and has been worn by royalty, celebrities, and everyone in between. It was one of the first fine jewelry collections to be designed for the everyday woman. With its playful design and colorful materials, the collection challenged the idea that fine jewelry is only for evening wear.
Designed to be worn with anything, the Alhambra collection features diamonds, onyx, malachite, and agate. The designs were inspired by Moorish architecture and lucky talismans. Using gold and textured gold, the designs are meant to make a statement while remaining approachable.
The Alhambra collection is the signature collection of Van Cleef & Arpels. In addition to its various necklaces, the line also includes rings, watches, and bracelets.
One of the most iconic pieces of the Alhambra collection is the four-leaf clover motif. Inspired by the Moorish tiles of the Alhambra Palace, the clover is a simple yet iconic symbol of good luck.
Grace Kelly famously collected Alhambra necklaces. She often wore three at once. And even Princess Grace of Monaco was known to sport a necklace from the line.
Van Cleef & Arpels has been making jewelry since the early 1900s. They are famous for creating innovative designs that are sure to impress. However, the price tag of their jewelry is prohibitive. Luckily, there are now affordable options.
Many famous stars have been wearing the Alhambra line, including actresses such as Audrey Hepburn and Margot Robbie. Nicole Kidman has also been spotted wearing VCA’s dazzling jewelry, including her favorite Alhambra necklace.
In recent years, the Alhambra collection has been reimagined in a variety of materials and sizes. For example, you can find a textured gold version of the necklace or bracelet, or even an elegant yellow gold version.
Zip necklace
Van Cleef & Arpels has been creating beautiful jewelry for over a century. The French brand has been credited with a number of iconic designs, including its legendary Zip necklace. Whether it’s worn as a necklace or a bracelet, this piece is a timeless jewel.
Van Cleef & Arpels’ first ever Zip Necklace was created in 1951. The piece, which was inspired by the zipper fastener, was a collaboration between Rene Sim Lacaze and the brand’s artistic director, Renee Puissant. This necklace was made from diamonds and sapphires.
It has been reimagined several times since the original design was first launched, taking inspiration from eras past and present. Today, the Van Cleef & Arpels “Zip” necklace is a bold, luxurious creation.
With its innovative design and striking combination of materials, the Zip necklace is a timeless creation that captures the spirit of a bygone era. Like all of the jewels from the House, this piece is highly covetable.
The Zip necklace is now one of the most sought after pieces of jewellery. This iconic design has undergone several transformations, allowing it to be worn as both a necklace and a bracelet. In addition, it has been reproduced to capture the long, slender silhouettes of the early 21st-century.
The original Van Cleef & Arpels Zip necklace was created to be both an elegant necklace and a versatile bracelet. Rather than relying on a traditional clasp, the necklace incorporates a series of small gold cups with sliding clasps. Once clasped, the chain reverts to a bracelet, making it perfect for both casual and formal wear.
Since its debut in the 1950s, the Zip necklace has become a signature design for the Maison. The modern version of the Zip is still produced, with variations available in both yellow and white gold.
As with all the iconic designs from the House, the original Zip is a remarkably versatile piece. Its simplicity is matched by its elegance and craftsmanship. A Zip Necklace from Van Cleef & Arpels is a must-have for any wardrobe.
Chevron Mysterieux
For starters, the Chevron Mysterieux is a necklace of emeralds, sapphires and diamonds. Its display stands out from the crowd in the best way possible. The multicolored stones are accented by a lone 10 carat emerald. But the real standout is the 50 carat pear cut diamond that plays like a pro. With the right care, this is a piece of jewelry to rival any jewel encrusted gem in your collection.
And the Chevron Mysterieux is not the only one in the family. This aforementioned necklace has an equally impressive sister, the aptly titled Chevron Mysterieux Ring. Both have a slew of the shiny trinkets. The ring is a clone of its sibling with some minor tweaks. One of the bigger hiccups is that it is not convertible. On the plus side, the design is a breeze to maintain. Also on the horizon is a matching necklace.
The company has recently broken its own tradition in creating the Legend of Diamonds collection. Designed around a single rough diamond, the resulting collection of five mystery set pieces is sure to impress. Featuring the aforementioned emeralds, a hulking pear cut diamond and a couple dozen gilded baubles, this isn’t one you’ll see on the reg.
Legend of Diamonds
Van Cleef & Arpels, a fine jewellery house that draws inspiration from its distinguished archives, has recently launched a high jewellery collection called Legend of Diamonds. The collection has been inspired by a rough diamond found in Lesotho. Its unique chemical composition and size make it the fifth largest rough diamond in the world.
The Legend of Diamonds collection is divided into two chapters. Chapter I explores the Maison’s expertise with Mystery Setting. This patented setting technique allows stones to be set without metal prongs. Instead, the light from the openwork frames allows it to enter and produce an intense dazzle.
Chapter II focuses on white diamonds. These jewels are designed in tribute to some of the best-known styles in the Maison’s history.
The Flying Butterfly necklace and the Zip Couture necklace are both delicate yet striking. They feature a slender silhouette and are adorned with diamonds and pink sapphires.
Diamond Chandelier earrings feature calibrated diamonds in cornered settings. Depending on the design, they can be worn on either a clip or a closed earring. Both rings are crafted with 2.36 carats of diamonds and two round diamonds.
Mystery Set is a complex gem setting technique. By allowing the stones to be engraved without the use of metal prongs, the effect of brilliance is remarkable. Originally developed by the house in the 1930s, Mystery Set is now a trademark of the house.
Van Cleef & Arpels has always had a strong attachment to emeralds. They have created many iconic pieces with this stone, including the 64-carat Prince Edward of York Diamond that the house acquired in the 1920s. Another iconic piece is the Floating Ribbon brooch, which was created in 1937.
In addition to the Legend of Diamonds collection, the house has also introduced a series of white diamond collections. They include A Cheval, a series of transformable earrings and necklaces that can be worn as bracelets or as rings. Similarly, the Flowerlace collection features interlaced ribbons and fluerette blossoms.
In addition to the Diamond Chandelier earrings, the house has also created A Cheval Snowflake, a collection that combines snow crystals with round diamonds. Two rings and a bracelet are included in the set, which can be worn as a necklace or two bracelets.
