BVLGARI was founded in Rome by Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris

The luxury Italian brand Bulgari, also known as BVLGARI in the fashion world, was founded in Rome in 1884 by Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris. It was Sotirios’s sons, Konstantino and Giorgio, who later took over the company. These two men helped build the store into a global name. This iconic luxury brand combines innovation and a rich heritage to create exquisitely crafted jewellery.

Sotirios was born in a small village in the Pindus Mountains of northern Greece. He was one of eleven siblings. His father, Georgios, had a passion for jewellery and began making them as early as 1870. After the death of all his siblings, Sotirios inherited his father’s skills. In 1881, he and his father moved to Rome. Their first shop was in Via Sistina 85. They sold jewellery, coins, and bric-a-brac. Later, they opened a shop at 28 Via dei Condotti.

Sotirios’s designs were inspired by ancient Roman architecture and mosaics. He created beautiful, intricate ornaments for visitors to his shop. As his business grew, he and his father moved into other shops. By the time he died in 1932, his sons had taken over the family store.

In the eighties, gold was increasingly popular as a precious metal for jewellery creation. BVLGARI responded to this demand by creating versatile pieces that could be worn by different people. The family store also specialized in watches. One of the best sellers is the Bulgari-Bulgari watch, which was created in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1977.

Sotirios’s earliest designs were influenced by the mosaics and coins of Ancient Rome. In addition to symmetry, he made sure that his designs were eye-catching with bright hues. Aside from silver and gold, BVLGARI also used diamonds and platinum in its early high jewellery creations. The company later acquired Gerald Genta’s watch company in 2000. Today, it is a part of the LVMH group.

BVLGARI has been known for its high quality, jewel-encrusted arrangements and vibrant colours. This luxury Italian brand also specializes in perfumes and leather goods. Some of its most famous products include watches and leather bracelets. It is one of the leading luxury brands in the world. Many of its stores have become landmarks in their cities.

Bulgari has hundreds of megastores across the globe. Most of the stores are located in Italy, but the company has expanded to more than 80 countries. BVLGARI is a global leader in luxury jewelry, fine watches, and fragrances. With its enviable reputation for quality, innovation, and style, it is hard to resist buying one of its pieces. If you are interested in learning more about BVLGARI, keep reading. Here are some facts about the brand and its founders.

Sotirios Voulgaris was a true artist and master of his craft. With his skill and love for jewellery, he paved the way for the creation of the Bulgari brand.

Bulgari’s signature style emerged in the dolce vita era

Bulgari is an Italian jewelry company that has earned a reputation for its bold designs and unusual gemstones. The style of the company was born in the 1960s, when the dolce vita era was in full swing. In the heyday of the era, movie stars such as Sofia Loren and Ingrid Bergman wore the brand’s jewels. They were also known for using heavy gold and cabochon gemstones.

Bulgari’s style embodies the Roman tradition of goldsmithing. It draws upon the forms of the 19th century Roman school of goldsmiths, as well as the Byzantine and Italian Renaissance. However, it also incorporates elements from Islamic and Far East art. For example, it is known for its signature multicolored cabochon gemstones. Aside from its flamboyant nature, Bulgari’s style has a strong architectural quality.

In the 1960s, Bulgari had a big international breakthrough. The house’s flagship store on Via Condotti became a meeting place for fashionistas and socialites. During the golden years of the dolce vita, it was the brand of choice for Princess Salimah Aga Khan, who was regularly adorned with Bulgari pieces. Many other Hollywood stars also wore the brand’s jewelry, such as Beverly Johnson and Gina Lollobrigida.

As the 1970s approached, the third generation of the family began introducing more liberated inspirations. These included the Monete collection, which infused Bulgari’s style with a sense of history and figurative form. This was done by incorporating ancient coins into the jewels.

Another significant innovation was the cabochon cuts of the stones. Some of the jewels were also made with geometric diamond motifs. Other gems, such as turquoise, amethyst and hematite, were also used. While these gems were chosen for their colour, they were also selected on the basis of their value.

Sotirios Boulgaris, a Greek-born silversmith, founded the house of Bulgari. His grandson, Paolo Bulgari, took up his father’s legacy and nurtured the popularity of the brand. Today, Bulgari is owned by LVMH, a French luxury conglomerate. The company also offers a range of products and services, such as watches, leather goods and haute couture.

Although the first Bulgari jewelry was created in the 1920s, the style did not truly emerge until the dolce vita era. The company’s signature style is defined by daring combinations of coloured and precious stones, and the architectural quality of its designs. One of the most recognizable designs of the house is the Serpenti. Its flexible coils can be draped around the wrist with ease.

The Serpenti motif is also one of the most recognized symbols of Bulgari. Originally a Hellenistic motif, the Serpenti is now used in the brand’s jewellery collections. Originally, it was made with a spring-loaded gold coil in the body of the snake. The serpent’s coils have evolved to be smooth and curved, and are often set in yellow gold.

Roman baths of Caracalla are one of Rome’s most popular tourist attractions

The baths of Caracalla are one of the most famous sites in Rome. These archaeological ruins are a testament to the great public baths that were built in Ancient Rome. In the Middle Ages, the materials from the baths were reused to make other things. Some of the mosaic floors were removed to museums throughout the world. Many of the mosaics depicted athletes. One of the most famous mosaics, however, depicts a gladiator.

Today, the baths of Caracalla are used for a variety of events. During the summer, they serve as a stage for concerts and opera performances. In addition, they host ballet performances. World class singers perform in the ancient setting. As a result, these concerts are very popular.

Most of the mosaics in the baths of Caracalla were made from Numidian yellow and green veined marble from Carystus. A few of these mosaics are now displayed in the Vatican Museums.

The central part of the Baths of Caracalla is called the Caldarium. It is topped with a concrete dome similar to the Pantheon. During the Middle Ages, this section was used for religious ceremonies. During the winter, the temperature was lowered in this area.

In addition to its beautiful mosaics, the baths of Caracalla contain several sculptures and statues. Originally, they had a huge capacity, with a daily average of around 8,000 people. However, after the destruction of the aqueducts by the Ostragoths in 537 AD, the Baths of Caracalla were not in use. The baths were rebuilt several times over the centuries.
