Cartier’s Tutti Frutti collection

The Tutti Frutti collection is known for its vibrant colours. Many of the pieces are set with diamonds and platinum. This style is often compared to the vibrant colors of a tropical beach, and it was influenced by traditional Indian jewelry. Cartier created these pieces to be less expensive than their other designs.

The Tutti Frutti collection is one of Cartier’s most popular pieces. The colourful combinations represent an era when jewelry design was becoming more bold and colorful. Although the designs of the Tutti Frutti collection are no longer made today, they have survived the test of time and are much sought after by collectors.

Sotheby’s has been a good seller of Cartier’s Tutti Frutti pieces. In 1991, a Tutti Frutti bracelet sold for $2.7 million at the auction house. This remains the world auction record for any Cartier Tutti Frutti piece. The latest sale of Tutti Frutti jewels took place in Hong Kong on November 28, 2020.

Cartier’s Tutti Frutti style was born out of a fascination with Indian jewellery during the Art Deco era. In 1901, the jewellery designer Pierre Cartier created a necklace for Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII and Empress of India. The piece was embellished with rubies, emeralds, and sapphires.

The most famous Tutti Frutti piece is the Collier Hindou Necklace. It is the crown jewel of the collection. Completed in May 1963, it contains 594 diamonds. In addition to the diamonds, the necklace also contains rubies, diamonds, and sapphires. The necklace was worn by Ms. Fellowes only once, and when she died, it was passed on to Emmeline de Casteja.

The collection was originally called the “foliage” line. It featured carvings of flowers, leaves, and fauna. These stones were set in varying amounts of transparency. As a result, the stones tended to be of lower quality. The inclusions often created a garden effect. As a result, the style became more popular.

Cartier has a long history with India. The jeweler Jacques Cartier travelled to India in 1911 to search for gemstones. This visit resulted in a large commission for the jeweler. In the 1930s, Cartier was commissioned to reset the Maharajah’s crown jewels in India. This resulted in the iconic Patiala necklace featuring nearly three thousand diamonds, including a 234-carat De Beers diamond.

The Tank watch

The Tank watch is a classic timepiece with a nautical flair. The design is inspired by the tanks used in World War I. It features two emerald eyes and sapphire accents. The two birds are also set with diamonds.

The mystery clocks

Cartier has always been known for its magic and mystery, as seen in its creations such as the famous “Model A” mystery clock, which was sold to Count Greffulhe in 1914. The company has created numerous mystery clocks in various materials, including white quartz, a soft, milky gem studded with diamond chips. Other materials used in the creation of these timepieces include onyx, mother-of-pearl marquetry, and brilliant-cut diamonds.

A famous Cartier mystery clock depicting Chinese table screens is known as a “Screen Mystery Clock”. Before the Qing Dynasty, a screen was an important sign of prosperity. It was often used by literati for inspiration. After World War II, the style of the world changed, and the design of timepieces reflected this shift. One such model was owned by American heiress Barbara Woolworth Hutton.

Cartier’s mystery clocks have long had an air of mystery, and even today, the company won’t reveal the exact number of clocks they created. Despite the mysterious nature of the watches, they remain incredibly beautiful and valuable. And the fact that the brand refuses to divulge the exact number of these pieces has contributed to their popularity.

Cartier’s mystery clocks have a history dating back to 1912. The original “Model A” was sold in 1912. This timepiece features diamond and platinum hands that appear detached from the mechanical movement. The hands of the mystery clock are attached to circular crystal discs with toothed edges, which are driven by vertical racks hidden in the base.

The mystery clocks are an intricate and luxurious collection of timepieces created by Cartier. These pieces are based on the ideas of renowned magician Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin, who was known for utilizing the secret of timekeeping to create amazing timepieces. Their unique designs are known for their intricate construction, including the sapphire crystal disc and floating hands.

The Les Oiseaux Librs collection

Since 1942, Maison Cartier has been reinterpreting the “Les Oiseaux Liberes” collection, which was originally designed by Jeanne Toussaint. Originally designed to commemorate the liberation of France, the collection represents the strength of nature.

Cartier’s first encounter with the natives was on the north shore of Chaleur Bay, where he traded with the Mi’kmaq. He continued to trade with the Mi’kmaq in the area, and was eventually able to purchase some of their jewelry. The collection was limited to only 33 pieces. This limited-edition design is considered one of the most important creations of the brand.

The Les Oiseaux Librs collection features two distinct styles: a bracelet and a watch. The bracelet version features a leather strap while the latter comes with a platinum bracelet. Both styles are considered collectors’ items. This iconic design is made to be coveted by watch enthusiasts. One of its unique features is that the dial is skeletonized to reveal the intricate inner workings of the watch.

A book highlighting the Cartier collection will offer a glimpse into the evolution of the French brand. In addition to jewelry, it will include tiaras and royal court accessories from the early twentieth century. There are also pieces from the art deco period and the Far East. During this period, Cartier also introduced new design concepts and created unique pieces that showcased its creativity.

The price of a Cartier necklace can vary greatly. Depending on the gemstone used, the time period, and other attributes, they can be as low as $200 and as high as $2500. The average piece of jewelry will cost around $6,447. However, it is worth keeping in mind that the price can rise if it is not properly cared for.
