The pair of earrings measures 5/8 inch. They are stamped with a serial number. These earrings have been carefully authenticated by a professional appraiser.

Since its inception, Van Cleef & Arpels has been associated with some of the richest people in the world. This includes Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. Both of these actresses wore Van Cleef & Arpels jewels. And, not to mention, Jackie Onassis and the Duchess of Windsor. During the Second World War, the brand opened a branch in Palm Beach. In the 1950s, the company made its mark on the fashion world by introducing naturalistic and semi-precious themes.

In 1968, Van Cleef & Arpels released the Alhambra motif. Named after the famous Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain, the design resembles the Moorish quatrefoil pattern. It is also reminiscent of the four leaf clover. Today, the designs have expanded to include pendants, earrings, and a variety of other jewellery pieces.

In addition to the Alhambra, Van Cleef & Arpels also makes a series of brooches modeled after ballet dancers. A few examples of these designs include the Lamartine bracelet and the Ballerina brooch. Another brooch in the collection is the Spirit of Beauty Dragonfly Fairy. Both of these jewels are studded with diamonds.

Van Cleef & Arpels was also known for creating custom-made jewels for film stars. For example, in an evening session, Elizabeth Taylor had 22 pieces from the brand. At a December 2011 auction in New York, the jewelry sold for $115 million. Among the celebrities who have worn this brand are Greta Garbo, Greta Van Der Bogen, and Gloria Swanson.

The Van Cleef & Arpels brand is now owned by the Richemont Group. In the early 20th century, Alfred Van Cleef, a diamond cutter from Amsterdam, and Salomon Arpels, a precious stone dealer, joined together to form the brand. Alfred Van Cleef married Estelle Arpels, who was the daughter of a precious stone dealer. Throughout the years, the brand has continued to evolve with new gemstones and techniques.

The Alhambra motif has become a favorite for celebrities. Originally, these necklaces were made from hard stones such as rubies and emeralds. But in 1990, the company added hexagonal-cut stones to its inventory. Using this technique, the designer was able to create swathes of colour without metal flash. Similarly, the firm introduced a “Mystery Setting,” which allows stones to be set without prongs.

As well as the Alhambra, the brand has also created special capsule collections. In 2015, Margot Robbie wore a Zip necklace adorned with sapphires and diamonds.
